In 1987, the first MARINA restaurant was born beside a river in Iloilo. Renowned entrepreneurs RP and Roland Gorriceta, their parents Ross and Marina and the whole family conceptualized and put up the business venture with simple things in mind: no frills, no fuss cooked meals that are fresh and healthy and family-oriented service in a relaxing setting that renders a truly native Filipino ambiance. "The restaurant has been named MARINA because it is located near a body of water, it mainly serves seafoods from Iloilo, and it's the name of our mother", RP proudly explains.

With the overwhelming success of the first MARINA, three more outlets in Iloilo and another four in Cebu opened soon after. Thus, in the early 90's, MARINA was already a popular brand in the restaurant industry in the Visayas region.

Bringing MARINA to Manila was inevitable. With the clamor of MARINA's numerous customers from Manila and the encouragement of Gorriceta's family friends, MARINA opened its first Metro Manila branch in Ortigas Center. As expected, it was a huge success that within six months, led to birth of another MARINA in Jupiter Street, Makati City. Todate, MARINA can be seen all around, in SM Mall of Asia, Trinoma Mall Q.C., Market! Market! and Roxas Boulevard in Boom na Boom Complex. Another addition to the several branches of MARINA, the Gorricetas also opened recently a line extension of MARINA which they named Villa Arevalo located in the posh city of Alabang in Alabang Town Center.

ABOUT FRESKA GROUP
Freska started out as a desire of a group of full-blooded Ilonggos to bring authentic Ilonggo home cooking to Manileños and Ilonggos alike. The concept originated when the founders saw a lack of reasonably priced and authentic Ilonggo fare in Manila. The vision eventually evolved into bringing families together to enjoy Ilonggo food at a whole new level.

At Freska, expect nothing but original Ilonggo cuisine made modern by Chef Pauline Gorriceta-Banusing. As such, Freska has been awarded for two consecutive years (2007 & 2008) as on the Philippine Best Restaurants.

Not known to many, Iloilo is where popular dishes- such as the Lapaz Batchoy, Pancit Molo, Guimaras Mangoes, originated. Apart from this, Iloilo is also known for its bountiful seafood such as Roxas Oysters, Scallops, and Diwal (Angel Wings). At Freska, you can savor these Ilonggo dishes plus other Ilonggo favorites, Kadios Baboy Langka (“KBL), Chicken Inasal, Chicken Binakol, and its signature dish, the Managat (Visayan Snapper).

At Freska, its always fresharap everyday!
